What does this Privacy Policy cover?

This Privacy Policy aims to inform you about the processing of your personal data in connection with the use of this website and online services. 

Specifically, we inform you about the categories of personal data we process, the purpose of their processing, any potential transmissions to third parties and how you can exercise your rights. 

The Association of National Olympic Committees (hereafter “ANOC) and the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (hereafter “SF&OC”) (collectively “the associations”, “the organizations”, “we”) pay special attention to the protection of your privacy and personal data. We are committed to the transparent processing of your personal data in compliance with legal requirements concerning data protection, particularly the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, hereafter “GDPR”),the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (hereafter “FADP”) and the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486) (hereafter “PDPO”).

Are your personal data transferred abroad?

We strive as much as possible to ensure the processing of your personal data in Switzerland and Hong Kong, China. 

However, we use the services of providers and partners whose services require that data be transferred abroad. In cases where maintaining the processing in Switzerland or Hong Kong, China is not feasible, we prefer countries within the European Union and the European Economic Area and those offering an adequate level of protection. 

However, some tools used on our website (plugins) are provided by third-party providers. How long are your personal data retained?

We process and retain your personal data as long as necessary to fulfil our legal obligations, to achieve the purposes of the processing mentioned, or depending on the duration of your consent when it is required. As soon as your personal data are no longer necessary for achieving these objectives, they are deleted, where possible, or anonymized. The criteria influencing the retention period include the applicable legal framework, the need for us to be able to have access to this information, the achievement of the initial or extended purposes, the preservation of legitimate interests, as well as imperatives arising from internal organizational or technical processes.

How do we protect your personal data?

We implement necessary technical, organizational, and legal measures to preserve the security and confidentiality of your personal data. These measures are aimed particularly at reducing risks on our websites and applications, protecting our IT infrastructure, and carefully selecting our service providers.

The completed form should be sent directly to the SF&OC Data Protection Officer by fax (2891 3657), by email (secretariat@hkolympic.org), or by post to the SF&OC address listed above.

We reserve the right to require additional data to identify you by requesting a copy of a valid official identification document. To facilitate the processing of your request, please also specify precisely which right(s) you wish to exercise and their scope.

This statement can be updated at any time. The version published here on our website is the most recent and takes precedence. It replaces all previous or conflicting data protection statements.
